Hey everyone, ever since I got my 12w3, I have had alot of trouble with it. The power wires that come from the terminals on the sub to the voicecoils keep breaking right behind the terminal where there is that green gel type stuff. I soldered all of them back, but every once in a while they come disconnected even after soldered. Im fixing to go off to college and I won't be at home, so I can't have this happening all the time. So if I just go ahead and spend $200 on a new JL Audio 12w3 v2 it will just have a difference of 50W more. I have an Alpine M300 which is a 300W amp, will the 12w3 v2 sound alot better with my amplifier compared to my 12w3? I don't really want to go about spending the money and time on getting the sub fixed anyways, its only a year old, but its torn up on the front. I hear that the V2 sounds alot better though, so im not sure what I want to do. Id really appreciate your help.

i had the 12w3, and its no different than the v2 sound wise, at least i couldn't tell. if your going to be replacing it anyways, then go ahead and get the newer v2.
now, i heard that the v2 is more improved and the 12w3 had problems with the tinsel leads, so there is a good chance that the v2 doesn't have these problems.

I had two W3's and now i've got two of the V2's. I went through 3 sets of the W3 (burn coils, messed up tinsel leads) before I upgraded to the V2. The V2 definitely plays smoother; it has a lower frequency response, and it runs a lot cooler. If I were you, I would definitely upgrade.

I can't afford that, im only willing to pay around $200 and the 12w3v2 falls into that category. Besides, I would have to buy a more powerful amp to power that type of sub, its not worth connecting it to my alpine M300.
