AEM SRI VS INJEN SRI (for Automatic EX)
I've searched and read a lot and I must say I am more confused than before.
I'm not looking for performance gain, but more into the sound.
Since my car is an Civic Sedan EX - Auto, CAI isn't a choice for me (from what I read).
So.. now I'm looking at AEM SRI and Injen SRI...
any advice from someone that has an auto? Thanks in advance!
AEM SRI - $87

INJEN Intake (SRI & CAI?) - $210

I've owned the Injen CAI and now own an AEM SRI.. In my opinion AEM sounds better.
AEM SRI = cheaper, nicer sound, no chance of hydrolocking...
Injen CAI = more performance, a LOT louder, very small chance of hydrolocking..
Up to ya, but i say AEM SRI from adventon.com $86 + shipping
(unbeatable)

Remember he is only looking for sound
Let's see...
Injen CAI $220 + shipping (maybe get an extra 1hp...which he is not looking for)
AEM SRI $86 + shipping
Hmm.. AEM SRI sounds like a better deal.

Well... if you dont care about the .0478474 Hp diffeecne between the cheap and "good" intakes, remember this.
A) They are all just a filter on a stick
B) a CAI will make more power when the engine compartment heats up.
C) an SRI is MUCH louder then a CAI.
U want soound? Go buy the cheapest SRI u can find.

Okay... how does the resonator on your stock intake work? It adds length to the tube in which the air must travel helping cancel out the resonation. With a CAI you have a longer tube meaning that the sound waves have that much more space to cancel it self out (somewhat as u know any aftermarket intake is MUCH louder then stock.) then in an SRI. On top of that with an SRI the end of the air intake is closer to the driver.
I mean if you wanted something REALLY loud you would just run a straight TB with NO intake.
Simple answer? Longer tube = less noise.

Thanks guys!
Sounds like I'm getting mixed comments.. but it's kinda leaning towards an AEM SRI for the best price/sound ratio.
I never tried anything.. so I guess I'll start with an AEM SRI .. thanks!

sure a SRI will cost you less but c'mon man, you really want to spend 90 bucks for a intake that will just sound cool? so we all know SRI or CAI will do little to nothing for HP but SRI could be worse than stock. they suck in air at a higher velocity BUT they are just sucking in HOT air, so why would you want to suck more hot air in faster to your already hot engine? just save up some more change in your piggy bank and get the Injen CAI, you will still get a sweet sound from it.

if you just want sound..
then grab a cheap ebay SRI... dont spend over 50 bucks.
then when you get tired of the sound.. and sick of the bogging during low end.. and sick of losing mpg... then you can swap back in your stock boxes...
if you want the 1-2 hp taken away from low end and slapped to mid-high end... then get an InJen CAI, AEM CAI... or ebay CAI (the exact AEM replica, not the smaller diameter ones).... or a K&N FIPK (best, and most expensive SRI)

Ok if you want sound get a SRI with a canister, I used to have one on my old car and you could hear it from a 1/2 mile away. And to everyone that keeps on telling him to get a CAI, he cant because he said he had and automatic.

first off with an Auto EX just throw away the AEM CAI cuz it dont exist. only Injen makes a CAI. if you do a search a guy put up a video of him doing burn outs, dough nuts and going heads up against a camero, if you listen you can hear his intake, think it was a CAI. IMO it sounded nice, kinda deep, loud enough to notice but not to loud. if i were you (and this is what i'm doing) be patient, save up a little more, i know that seems hard to do, and get a Injen. you will get a good sound and maybe even a horsepower or two.
when you go to search put in the word "look", the topic of his thread is something like "look what i did this weekend". hope that helped,
