AEM Intake question... did search to...

Hey I heard that the aem intake will increase your gas mileage and just wondering if anyone can back this up.. I am just an "everyday driver" but I do a lot of it on the highway with no traffic so I stay above the 3000 rpm district and I am also curious about sound is it really noticable or not to loud , I intend on installing myself and don't know much about engines so big thanks goes out to the guy who put together the DIY install web site... THANKS!!

My Injen CAI is raising my gas milage, I don't know how much because it hasn't stopped going up yet. I was running about 33.5 stock, now with the CAI I got 36, but that is up 1 MPG from about 2 fillups ago. This seems to be abnormal from what everyone else finds, but I also don't drive hard very often, so you should see similar results. As far as sound or noise, you won't hear it until you get it up in the higher revs, and if you're just cruising, its not much louder than stock.

I go to pickup my InJen CAI tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait.
From what I've read here, the sound its going to make is pretty sweet.
And yes, huge thanks for the DIY on the CAI.

Edit: Btw, I'll keep you posted too if I find my milage going up or down .

well...i never watched my mileage before i got my AEM CAI, but this weekend i know that i drove over 430 miles on one tank...and my fuel light had just come on, so i probably had a few more miles left.....

these were 99% highway miles tho....dont know if it was my cai or what, or if this is to be expected....but i thought it was pretty dam good

IMO, the bypass valve is a waste of space. It will only come into play if you submerge it; hence, drive thru a puddle deep enough for water to completely overcome the filter. I have a AEM CAI on mine and have had no problems here in NH.

Personally, I'm going to purchase a bypass valve before snow the hits me. Although you could make the InJen or AEM into a SRI. You're call...
$50 and piece of mind isn't that much when you think about what it could to your engine.

dont buy the bypass valve it is a waste of money!!!! just make sure when the rainy season starts u take the lower half of the pipe off and make it an sri and you wont have any problems . (it only takes about 5 min. to do)

I say go with the SRI. I have an AEM CAI and I removed the lower tube. I got caught in a really really bad rain storm one day and it really made me nervous. Having the SRI makes me feel a lot more comfortable
