Adding in a Shock sensor to factory alarm???

Does anyone know if you can add a shock sensor to the factory alarm. I could only assume yes if you are able to find out if the shock sensor is a power or ground trigger device then find the according wire on the alarm unit. I have accessibility to the alarm under the dash. If someone has a wiring schematic of the alarm I could testing it then.

Just looking for some advice b4 I spend over $100 to install a $20 shock sensor!

Thanks guys!

Did you have the oem alarm added to your civic? Everyone thinks they have an oem alarm when all they really have is keyless entry.

First thing to do is to see if you actually have the alarm like Mbow said. Lock your doors with the remote. Then walk over and open your trunk with the key. If your horn starts honking and your lights start flashing, you have an alarm option. If nothing happens, then all you have is keyless entry.

You can easily buy the alarm option for 120 plus installation. But all it has is door triggers and a trunk trigger. It also adds a flashing LED to ward off the ignorant.

With the OEM alarm and the factory engine kill, our cars are somewhat protected from being stolen (except by tow trucks, had to add that), but other than opening up the doors or trunk, nothing is done to prevent theft of contents.

Hence I guess the question of adding a shock/motion other sensor.

The easiest way would be to buy a common shock sensor and wire it to mimic the trunk grounding input via a relay. I am currently in the process of adding this and I will try to add a DIY, but like Mbow said, check to even see if you have the alarm first.

Peace
