Alpine Alarm Experiences?

Has anyone had any experience with Alpine in terms of their alarm systems products. Any input would be great. Thanks

I have one, and I would not recommend getting one. It will give off many false alarms. I need to take it back to the shop because about one of every 2 times I set it, it will go off for no reason.

I just got an Alpine SEC-100S car alarm installed about a week ago. Not bad so far. The only thing that concerns me is the blue LED. It's too freakin' bright and calls too much attention. In darkness the whole cab starts illuminating. My only other complaint is that when you arm and disarm the alarm, the chirps sound a little on the feminine side (it sounds too "cute"). When ringing, it sounds okay. I got it for $189 installed at Circuit City. If you have an EX, be sure that they don't mount the siren in front of the exhaust manifold. My installer did this and the thing started melting. They gave me a new siren and mounted on the left side of the air filter box. Overall a good alarm though...

Hey mogwai, Just wondering if the price for $189 installed included keyless entry. It sounds like a sweet deal. Also, how sensitive is the alarm? Thanks for your help.

i am sure it comes with keyless entry. you can also adjust the sensitivity on it.

i have a clifford intelliguard 9000 and it is pretty sweet. it has a motion detector, but really no use when you are parked in crowded places.

I had an alpine on a teg several years ago. Never had any problems with it at all. Oh, and the sensitivity issue, you should have a rotary type switch to adjust that with.

Notorious, the price included the keyless entry (and flashing lights) as well. The factory remote (assuming you have an EX) still works, but the Alpine remote will both unlock/lock and arm/disarm your car. So you won't need both remotes. As for the sensitivity, I don't know as to how sensitive it was set, but it has yet to go off unintentionally. Cliffords are good too... my old car has a Clifford and that things is like ten years old and still works as good as when I first got it. I just wanted to try something new... Good luck.
