One of the best things about fiber images carbon hoods is they do not require hood pins. As far as the front trim piece not fiting right well, every fiber images hood i have seen on the 7th gen the thing has fit perfectly. When you got your hood you should have sent it back since there was a chip in the corner. Since it seems to bug you so much. Also the fiber images hood are the most durable on the market.
