Unhappy Engine Replacement

Hello all,

im Hasan from Jordan, im new in this forum, and it's an honor to me to join you in this forum,

i bought a honda civic 2003 hybrid 2 days ago, and i feel like the engine is not powerful enough because of the bad and mountain roads in my country,

my question is if i can replace the engine of my car with a honda civic 2006 hybrid engine, is it compatible ?? do anyone advice me to replace it if it's doable ??

thank you in advance

regards

Re: Engine Replacement

first off, why did you buy an hybrid then?... the battery weighs a lot...
second, 2006 uses the R-series engine, 2003 uses the D-series not even sure how much differences are in there. electrics harness, ecu, battery compatibility, etc, etc.

if there are dealers that allow you to test drive cars, better off trying to drive a non-hybrid and see if there are differences. (not sure how things are in jordan...)
Oh, yeah, you are on parts and products forum (which are for reviewing products...) - not many do come in here, so few would even see your post...

The battery and electronics behind the back seat weigh less than a passenger. I'd guess about 20-25kg for the battery.

OP should return the car and pick something that does what he wants.
A car that gets great fuel mileage isn't going to have a ton of power, and vise-versa.

Re: Engine Replacement

hello Hassan am from jordan too ! and trust me 1.3 L just dont cut it , i got a 2005 LX sedan , i swapped in a D17A2 ( 1.7 L ) and i sometimes feel its under powered

best thing to do try and trade in your car with a full gasoline automatic , or go with a 2008 civic depends on your budget , because the swap you are talking about dosent come cheap here .

Re: Engine Replacement

you can get an upgraded battery pack that will give you more electrical assist going up hills, and take extra weight out of the car, but thats about it. the newer hybrids arent much better in the power department. the hybrids are meant to be used in the city and thats where you get the best mileage as well. for highway driving a regular gas car would be just fine. and for mountains, a civic shouldnt even be considered unless you like redlining in 3rd the whole way up and get 10mpg.
