K20 in your 2k1?
when i do get the swap in a time far from now. do I have to install the k20 tranny from the civic si, or could I slap in that bad a$$ 6 speed which comes with the type-s. also how hard would it to be to throw on the s2000 head. would you have to do something about the piston speed, also what would it bring the RPM redline to. << for you people a week behind >>
it's not exactly the same though..
the new civic si(SIR) is basically have the same mounting as rsx
but ours is different.. and that's what matters..
i heard that the civic type R is going to be introduced to North America, and that it would make the swap from the 2001-2002 civics engines to the k20a2 engines a lot easier and less expensive is that true. someone also told me that you would need an after market suspension kit because of the way the engine sits in the car is any of this true, and what about the s200 head conversion? would the F series work with the K's?

I'm guessing you could probably bolt in any of the transmissions from the K-series to any of the K motors, but I'm not absolutely positive on that. The gearing on the Type S transmission is a lot better than the Si (not to mention it has 6 speeds), so you would probably want to stick with that if possible. Some stiffer springs/struts would probably help, but I don't think it's absolutely necessary. The K20A2 doesn't weigh that much more than the D17. I'll find out for sure once the new motor gets put in - right now my car is lowered to about a 1-finger gap in the front and back; I will have to check to see if the new motor forces me to raise my car a little higher or not.

In any case, the frankenstein K-series motors (F20C/K20A2/Type R head on K24 block) will have to wait until someone is able to crack the K series ECU. Hondata should have something out by next year - this will also help tremendously with tuning the K-series motors for turbo/supercharger applications.

just curious but does anyone know off hand what the overall weight difference is between the EX and RSX Type S. on a side note, when my EX is paid off, i might just go and trade it in on a RSX Type R, they SHOULD be here by 2005-2006, if not theres somethin wrong w/ honda. my two cents.
yo htown,
did you have to get a custom built kit orare they making an engine mount kit? One of the import performance stores told me that "it wasnt possable to do, and if it were to be done it would have to be a custom job and cost you nearlly an arm and a leg" i just hope they aren't giving me a bunch a crap.

K20 swap.... now taht is tight. What about weight difference..Heavy??
I can get JDM front clips, but I am unsure of what a TypeR , TypeS, or Si would cost?
My girlfriend wants one also. Personally I do not own a Civic but she does! I am working on a new Carbon fiber hood for the 2k1 Civics, this is why I post, I am not bias to who owns what, As long as it is fast and you know how to Race, NOT Drive.... anyone can get a Liscens!
If you are wondering what I drift around in, it is a 97' Nissan 240sx w/ a SR20DET.
Enough about that I am going to look into getting, whoever is interested, the TYPE-R, TYPE-S, and Si Front clips for you Peeps!
Because it is all about knowing your Limits.

There is about a 200-300 lb. difference between the EM Civic EX and the RSX Type S.

Yes, we are fabricating all of the custom mounts that we need. HASport is coming out with a mount kit in a few months, though.

<< Neo....If Im not mistaken that guys from Canada so the Si is the ex up there >>
????
i think this is what u mean..... Si(Can) = Ex(USA)
and as far as the article regarding engine swap is concerned...
"The Civic Si comes equipped with a 160hp K20A3 engine and a 5-speed transmission......" and that's SIR(Can) = Si(USA)
