Front Lip
Front Lip
Hey
Im driving a 1998 civic hatch back and recently drove a little to fast up a drive and completley destroyed my front lip.. im lookin to buy another lip of somewhere like ebay, is it possible to put a 1995/1996 front lip on a 1998, did the body shape change that much. Im willing to mould it and all that, I would just like to know if it is possible??
Cheers for any help...

A '96 civic front lip will fit your '98 civic, but not a '95. The '95 were the cutoff year for the 5th generation civics. Yours is a 6th gen civic. Civic styles are changed every 4 years. Buy a lip for for '96-'98 because those have similar front bumper and lights; you shouldn't have to do any molding or anything to get it to fit. The '99 to '00 is where honda changed the front bumper and headlights.
Ok thanks for that ill look for one between 96 to 98.. Whilst im on this topic, when the front dug in it got a few deep scratches on the paintwork above the lip does anyone have some good advice on how to get them out or a product that can...
Cheers

EK's are 6th gen civics and it's just the chassis code for that year civic. The lip should fit on yours no problem because the lower portions of the bumpers on the EK's are very similar. As far as fixing the deep scratches, your going to have use body filler, sand it down, prep and paint the whole lip so it looks even. A bodyshop can probably repair it for you if it's nothing too major. Just buy a new lip and have it painted so you don't have deal with all that.
Ok I see now. If i choose to buy this lip are they hard to install??? due to the fact I alerady bought the car with the body-kit and do not have any experience of putting them on. is it just a simple task to do in a day?? Cheers for all your help..
Lips are pretty easy to install. You can install them in a few hours or so by yourself. You have to screw them in on the edge that wrap around into the wheel well and usually secure the front of the lip with three or two screws on the bottom. If you buy NEW lips they usually come with all the mounting hardware. However, since your car came with a lip already you can just use the pre-exisitng holes to mount it. It's nothing too difficult, just give it a try.
