Don't Buy "Unknown" Remote Start

So, my parents bought me a remote start/alarm/keyless entry combo.
They left it up to me to get it installed.
Little did I know that the brand, "Huatai"(I think) was not only an awful horrible brand, but also that NO ONE would even touch it to install it.
I finally got a good estimate. 325+40 for some interface module that it didn't come in. They take all day to install it, then call me and tell me that, it can't be done, that this is a piece. The installer who showed us why it wouldn't work was very nice. (It didn't work cause of some defect.) Then we had to deal with the d*mn sales assosciate. He was a complete idiot. Wanted 200 dollars for ripping my car apart and not putting anything into it. I can understand labor, but sheesh. Finally, I talked him into giving me one of his remote start/alarm/keyless entry combo for like 575, installed, with labor.

I guess the moral of this story is: Don't get "unknown" remote starts, and don't deal with Vietnamese sales assosciates. He was a complete a$$.

yeah, it sucked to have to deal with them.
Huatai, i found, was a bad brand and it had bad reputation.
No one will install it.
It also said "Royal Guard Alarms" all over the side of the box, so wtf?

Just stick to DEI products(viper, valet, avital) really can't go wrong with them. I installed them almost daily while I workd at audio express. Easy to install, work great, and awsome customer service on them

Yeah, I went back today to get a good one installed.
Autopage.
It's been good, so far... for the 7 hours I've had it.
I walked in there and asked the man how he was doing.
He didn't say anything, besides $584.88.

I guess he was doing good...

Thank God for cool installers though.
The guy was super nice.
Anyways, I'm happy now... Broke, but happy.

Yeah I would sell that alarm and go for the viper. I have three friends with it and they love it. Acutally I would throw that crap off of the highest bridge I could find.

Re: Don't Buy "Unknown" Remote Start

You guys do realize that there are loads of people very happy with the Huatai auto start systems!!! Installing an autostart requires some electrical knowledge and if you don't have any, don't bother trying. I don't spend a penny more than the autostart and I install it all myself.

I installed a bulldog system on my car, a viper and huaitai on my friends cars and the Huaitai is great... it even automatically unlocks the vehicle automatically as the driver closes in on the vehicle.. its really cool and a great bang for the buck. You may have well got a defective piece or quite possibly the technician you went to did not do the right stuff... In any case most of the autostarts are manufactured in Asia and I for one this Huaitai is good bang for the money.
