dashboard dyeing

I have that crappy (imo) two tone beige interior, and i've decided the cheapest, and i think quickest way to change this would be to dye the dark brown of my car black. It is the top of the dashboard that i want to dye, and the tops of my two doors (i have a coupe) does anyone know if i should dye or paint it? and would this be relatively easy or difficult to do? I am also going to put power windows and locks in my dx with those kits on ebay...

o yea, an update to my mods

1) took off civic symbol on back (woot!) lol
2) put two freeway blaster horns on my car (wow..i can't wait for someone to cut me off, so i can make them poop their pants)

and that's it....but soon i will lose the pinstripes (ewww) and then..well..just too many things to list..thx guys!

I'll stick to brown/beige It doesnt' worth the risk, after a few years, the color will just crack or peel off

you can buy vinyl dye that will actually change the pigment in the plastic and vinyl so that it wont crack or peel.

SEM Vinyl and Plastic Dye
Sticks well if done right. Seeps into the Vinyl and is non removeable. Plastics is a little tricky, (door panels and such) but can be done using their adhesion promotors.
The color i used is Shadow Blue. Its much darker than int he pictures. The camera's flash makes it look too bright.

do you have to take off the whole dashboard to dye it?

painting isn't worth it. It's a lot of effort just to have it scratch easily. You should either dye it or replace it. I'm swapping my beige interior for black. I'm getting the entire dash for only 125. But that just depends on if you are wanting to save $$$ or not.

no it's not new, it's from a salvage yard. But I've looked at it and there isn't any scratches on it. You can just look around and find some real good deals on stuff like that. If your going to go black then I would just look around for a used one instead of going to all the trouble of getting it dyed.
