2001 Honda Civic Dashboard Problems

Hello
I am having some troubles with my 2001 Honda Civic dashboard. When the dashboard is pushed on the illumination and gas gauge work. The speed gauge and RPM's never work tho even when it is pressed. When not pressed nothing works. It has become a pain in the butt because every time I need to see how much gas I have I have the struggle of pressing on my dashboard with my hand as hard as possible and even sometimes that doesn't make it come back on. I don't even know where to begin because the gas gauge works when pressed on but the other gauges do not work at all. Any help or tips?

Thanks in advance.

Re: 2001 Honda Civic Dashboard Problems

Do the gauge cluster self diagnostic (search for it) , it should "sweep" all the gauge needles and light up most of the warning lights.

If some gauges work during the sweep test but not all, the cluster is bad.
If none work at all then I'd do more checking.

I might pull the cluster out and disconnect then reconnect the wiring just to see if anything improves too.

Not trying to bust ***** just might get more responses if this were moved to 7gen tech? I only own a sixth gen so I wouldn't know.
