battery question?

i just opened the hood and its been a while since ive been able to do work on my car, but it looks like there is batter acid on the of the battery, is that normal? my car has 31k miles on it and is about 2.5 years old? thanks

Sounds like its time for a new battery.....Batteries are not supposed to have acid on them.....in them, yes.....on them, no. Check to see if you still have a warrantee on it.

Go to the honda parts dept. not service. Its not hard to change yourself. Parts will be able to replace it. It might be cheaper to go with an aftermarket brand.

Mine finally died last weekend. Luckily I was at Sam's Club when it did. 3 1/2 years till I had to replace it though. Not bad at all.

are you sure it is acid, or is it corrosion? If it is corrosion, you can clean it with a mixture of baking soda and water. Look around the battery and see if you see any cracks or anything. Otherwise the battery just needs to be cleaned.

It is hard to describe corrosion. It just happens over time. Things start to corrode. It usually happens around battery terminals and on the battery. Try cleaning it and see if it helps.
