Those of you that have the Octane (urethane) front bumper.......

Do you have the wire mesh for it?
Is it possible to put on, if so, how?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, I have people telling me that urethane sucks now (in Atlanta) Now I'm confused.....Is fiberglass better now?

there are pros and cons on both. I forget, but there's an old thread somewhere detailing them. Here's what I remember:

Fiberglass pros:
less expensive
easy to repair
paint adheres better

Fiberglass cons:
cracks easily
normally must be fitted to your car (more $$$ to install)

Urethane Pros:
better fitment
will not crack

Urethane Cons:
price
paint does not adhere very well
can warp in high temperatures

I think thats about it. As for the mesh, I would take it to a shop, they should be able to do that kind of stuff.

2k2EXCOUPE will become famous soon enough
Jay- Urethane really is better...its just not as many body shops have experience with it because most people wont pay for urethane and end up getting fiberglass...

I hate fiberglass...

oh quick question for you, xproductz, what you use to secure the side of the fender that's close to the rear? did you screw it into the fender well or use double sided tape?

i have the fiberglass octane with mesh grill. It has the same type of setup with the screws. The fiberglass holds up great and fits perfect.

Hurley03Civic has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Depending how u drive and where u live.... urethane kits can benefit you or u can be just fine with the fiberglass ones... see for us here in cali.. the only thing we have to worry about is the damn tire treads on the 710, 5, and the 605 frwys!!! some bumps but not tooooooo bad..so we are cool with fiberglass.. and we have a lot of shops out here that can fix fiberglass really quick. But for u out of staters that have to deal with crap like snow and like huge tree branches in the middle of the road or really bad paved roads, then urethane will be good for ya. oh and P.S. paint will adhere fine to the urethane kits when u lightly scuff sand it and use this bonding agent before painting it.. its called bulldog and its available at paint stores hope that helps out

I'm from your area (north of the perimeter). Fiberglass here is fine. The roads are in good enough shape not to worry about hitting a deep pot hole, and drumping your bumper on the pavement (especially if dropped). The thing about urethane that people like so much is it's really durable. The thing with fiberglass though, is that they can get more intricate with the kits. Another thing with fiberglass that's good is like said above, it's easy to repair. I've had 2 of the octane fronts on my car, and now have a glass Black Widow on there. The reason I replaced the first octane was becasue I hit a cat at 80. Needless to say when I looked, about 1/4 of the front was gone on the passenger side. The second one, as far as I know, is still in tact. I sold it because I wanted something different. I got the black widow because I liked it's look for my car. The issue with mesh. I don't have it on mine. I just don't like it. But, I may have some put on before next summer as I had to wash bugs out of the radiator on a frequent basis (thanks mild winters, and humid summers.) Of course, I'm sure you know how that is here, the bugs issue. It's not like a bug will ruin your radiator, it's not gonna go through it. I don't think mesh would do too much by the way of keeping larger things from busting your radiator. Either way, that's really up to you. Last summer, mine was fine without mesh, but like I said, I kept the radiator cleaned off.

Oh, and on Vis's version of the octane the mesh was held in by bend clips.
