Fatmat up front?

Ok. . my dash rattles like a mo fo'. So I'm thinking about doing some fatmatting up front. But is it a good idea? I'm concerned with the heat that is generated up there. I'm not sure about the rest of the dash, but I know the area around my CD player gets really hot, but I assume that's just the player.

What do you all think? Would Fatmat hurt anything up there by generating more heat?

You should go search the ICE forum. First off, the dash is very hard to take apart and there's already a sound absorbing mat that you would have to remove. Second, I don't recommend fatmat cause it will smell like tar. The only thing I bought from them is a hood liner. It works well, but I'm having a hard time trying to make it stick with all the engine heat. Not a very good product. And lastly, the material itself doesn't generate any heat. I have dynamat in the doors, rear deck, and trunk and it's a far superior product.

No idea. . but it sounds like 1 of them coming from the passanger air bag and other one some where on the drivers side. . and a bunch around my stereo. . which I'm sure is my crappy install kit for my stereo, but I dunno about the air bag one and the other drivers side one.

I have rattles all over. There's only so much that can be done.

I agree with that, but I'm trying to kill some of them especially up front where I have to listen to them . I know some of them are very fixable.

No. . the only part that I've taken apart is the stereo, climate control areas. This area is just an annoying pain in the butt, because I think the install kit itself needs to be replaced cause it just rattles like a mo' fo'. .

When I do replace it though, the area around the stereo I want to put in some type of padding or something to help with the rattles up there. The stereo itself generates a buttload of heat, just like most any car stereo. I'm worried about any foam, or material around the stereo melting or starting on fire, or just overall creating too much heat up there. . Do you think it's a concern?

Now it's winter though, and everything is constricted because of the cold, so everything rattles now. . lol . The doors, the roof, the dash, the rear deck, side panels, anything and everything. But once it gets warm I wanna do this cause I'm gonna upgrade the stereo system in there and I'm gonna need some rattle proofing. . heh
