Don't bother with the R engine. Stay with the S. Unless money is no object, the cash you will save is better spent elsewhere.

I think you can just add the Type-s head.

If he has a 2.0 liter K block, he may be able to save money by bolting the type-S head on. I think the compression might end up being a little lower but that may be better for boosting later on anyway.

the thing is that if he does decide to turbo in the future, he would HAVE to lower the compression ratio but, they k20a has more agressive cams and extra oil squirters or something... blah... well its just better, the engine was made for a beating to be given to it

thats what i'm honestly thinking about now. if the R engine is gonna run me 5k - 6k, i can get an SF turbo for my car for around 4500 and be pushin around 240whp...so i dont know...i'd kinda like to stay N/A, which is why i was lookin at the R engine...oh well

you can get well over 213whp NA from an S motor. I would save your money and get the Type S motor if i were you.

You could just throw some Type R cams in your head, and while it's apart port and pollish it. That will get you WAY up in power! If you want to stay NA that is. That will put you damn close to the R engine other than pistons.
