problem with shaved emblems

today i was removing my Civic and LX emblem and i ran into a problem. the CIVIC emblem came right off and the i used a disolver to get the remaining crap off, then waxed that part so the paint wont get damaged. problem came in witht he LX symbol, when i took that off, there was the same residue there, i peeled off the remaining tape and went to the disolver to take the remaining crap off, bam, rubbing and rubbing and that **** isnt coming off. i used some wax on it then more disolver and nothing, it almost looks as if the bumper was repainted with the emblem on because of shade under the LX is lighter then everythign around it. turbs out i couldnt do **** besides get some double sided tape and put the LX symbol back on. any suggestions?

i'm pretty sure teh LX emblem is a Dealer application... cause onver here in CAN, there are no emblems on DX or LX. only the Si and SiR

plus how long have you had the car.. cause over time the colour kinda fades...not drastically, but yea... you'll notice a diff...

Using touchup paint will likely make the problem worse - it's not like paint was chipped off, but the finish is just different. Any number of causes: elements/weather/waxing/washing affecting the exposed finish for example. My buddy went for a fill emblem shave that involved filling the holes in the rear as well - the paint underneath the emblem was also lighter than the rest of the trunk - so he had the whole trunk lid painted by his local bodyshop.

its not the gooey **** thats the problem, after the gooey **** was gone, the whole area where the LX emblem was was a much darker shade of silver then everything else, thats y i ended up putting the LX thign back on

2k2EXCOUPE will become famous soon enough
When i took the EX emblem off the other night, i scratched my paint. Or when my back end got fixed, they scratched it and put the EX under it, I honestly dont know. I prolly did it. It was where the EX used to be.

It was deep, i could see black , So i put my Tein emblem over it. LOL

i tried that, i cleaned the area good with soapy water, let it dry, used goo gone, then polish and then wax and it stayed the same. the silver vinyl tape makes the color of my car perfectly, i was thinking of maybe putting a strip of that over it. but anyway, it seems that the dark shade is not on the paint, its acctually part of the paint.

use the vinyl tape if it matches and nothing else works.

thats funny, on my '90 integra i shaved my emblems and used a vinyl tape to cover the holes and you couldn't even tell because the tape matche PERFECTLY.....until they rusted a little! lol

****, good ol'l vinyl tape, always there when u need that extra boost of hp, nothing like adding some vinyl. when u need to cover up some scuff marks or deep scratches on the car, nothign like vinyl tape. i'm gonna cover up the little trunk hole for the key with vinyl tape also because the silver tape seems to match perfectly with the silver color cars.
