Insulating my CAI
what cha all think ?
OK, they make header wrap to keep heat in the headers (to help with scavenging
and to keep engin compartments cool) what if I not only used this on my header... but
also on the cold air intake tubes. wouldnt that insure that I get to coldest air charge possiable ? I also had the idea of running a CO2 line under the wrap to super cool the intake tube.....
just looking for every advantage I can get
let me know
peace!

its not a noticble difference cause when you start your car the pipe is allready cool...but after driving your car it gets warm...with the wrap this will just be keeping it cooler longer.
evol - thats a pretty bad *** idea, i was thinking about maybe doing that, or is it maybe possible to run the c02 line into the intake tube? i might be a complete idiot by asking it but it seems like it could work if you opened the valve to the cO2 tank to allow cold oxygen into the intake tube, not forcing it in but simply allowing colder air into the engine. i doubt you'd get gains from my idea but who knows.. if u need more explanation, its kinda like dry nitrous injection but its not forced and its just a gradual addition of cool air....
as for evol's idea i dont know if it would help very much cuz your filter is still sucking up hot air, but it might cool down some of the air because the tube isnt as hot..
wow, i should stop talking before i feel like an idiot
too late.

The gains with forced induction out way the loss with an intercooler plus you need the intercooler with forced induction to keep everything cool.

i heard of people making homemade boxes out of chickenwire and putting dry ice in it and attaching next to the CAI so it sucks in super cold air, not sure if it does anything but it sounds like it might work.
dunno but this guy who owns designer image, has Front Mount intake. and it looks just like a intercooler. And he doesnt have a turbo. And i dont think he has a loss in performance.
