Dx Exhaust Problem
I own a dx sedan and when i first got the car i bought dc headers off ebay, cuz i thought they would fit. Obviously i figure out that they wont fit, but i was wondering if i could buy an aftermarket ex downpipe, and bolf on the headers and down pipe. I know the o2 sensor needs to be before the cat and after the cat, but i could extend the wires to easily do that. I had a bung drilled into the header so i could put one there, and another after the cat. If anyone knows if this would work or not i would appreciate ur input. Thanks

THis is what I am doing. I also have the Dx but I am buying the HP racing header with the downpipe that eliminates the Cat. Then I am buying a aftermarket EX exhaust system, that's the only way it would work....so basically once u get the downpipe, you will still need to buy either a stock EX cat back or an aftermarket cat-back....Hope that helps.

hmmm...aight well i have a sedan also. So ur headers have no cat....do they have a downpipe or did u get a different one. I have th dc sports and ive seen downpipes whice relocated the cat to underneath the car. So u think this setup would fit?

I have an LX, so I dunno .. Anyways. . What you want to sounds like it would work though. . Might have a problem with the check engine light though, just so you know. .

No idea. . There is something you can buy to keep that light off though. . I'll let your know if I can ever remember what it is called. I'm not sure if the dealer can re-program the light if it comes on or not .

I'm asking Azure to stop by this thread . . He probably knows more about the MIL then I do, because what I know about it, I read on his post where he is selling his exhaust headers.

Also, if you have an LX/DX and want to get an exhaust system made for an EX. You will also have to get the Front Sway bar for an EX. This is so the CAT will fit.

sway bar?? what i wanna do is use the header that i have...and then find an si/aftermarket downpipe...and then attach that to an aftermarket midpipe...then to my over axle muffler...the downpipe still has the cat, but it is under the car...in the dx the cat is in the engine bay right under the headers
The check engine light should be no problem for you because it sounds like you still want the CAT. Just as long as you have an o2 sensor before and after the CAT. The MIL Eliminator is used only if the CAT is completely removed.
Okay, so since you're keeping the header you have now [which is made for an EX, right?], you would basically use an aftermarket exhaust system made for an EX.
But since your CAT would be relocated to under your car, you would need the front sway bar from an EX. The EX front sway bar is made so that the CAT will fit:

And because the LX/DX/HX has the CAT right under the header:

The front sway bar [for the LX/DX/HX] is not made to fit a CAT.

yah i wanna keep the cat...but i just want better flow so headers...downpipe....midpipe. But in order for the downpipe to fit i need the ex sway bar?? Is that so the downpipe will have something to clip onto?? Like the hangars nees the sway bar with the plastic thingy on it??? I might be able to get my hands on a si downpipe/cat...would that work??
I'm thinking you need the EX sway bar in order for the cat to fit. Check out this thread.
And it might also be because of what you mentioned about the hangers. That could be another reason why, but I'm not sure.

hmm was that guy just putting on a hi flow cat? I bet if i got an si downpipe it would fit, cuz the cat is like under in the middle. Im sure my stock exhaust has hangers in the same areas. I think he was saying that if u only want to replace the cat that the ex one wont fit the lx because of the sway bar. The thing is i dont even know it the dx has sway bars. I really need to find someone that is doing it, and ask them...
