need help on choosing an alarm
compustar is probably the best, but im very pleased with my alpine SEC-150r alarm. it doesnt have anything fancy like the LCD pager but it works well..no false alarms and it has i think 3 or for ext outputs so u can add trunk release and some other things like window roll up. it also has a very distinctive sound.
I wish I was asian

hey...if a crook cant figure out how to shut off a $20 alarm thats going off and bringing attention to the car (and him), then he'll still run away.
thus the $20 alarm did its job.

Nothing is going to stop a crook from getting into your car or taking a car if he really wants it. My viper 300 series works ok, lets me know when someone is messing with or has messed with my car and hasn't been broken into since I got it put on. But the price of the alarm isnt' relevant somtimes, it's the skill of the installer. I installed mine myself with the help of a pro and he liked my ideas on where to put the control unit. Most alarms are mounted under the steering wheel right above the pedals, thus, break the window, open the door rip out the control unit. Run. Come back later and get what you want.
