Kenwood CMOS-230 Backup Camera Install

I have a 2012 Honda Civic Si. I'm getting rid of the factory radio so I can get SiriusXM, backup camera, and be able to view vehicle info. I have a Kenwood DNX577S in my Rav4 and love it and decided to get another for my Civic. It does a nice job giving me tire pressures and codes for check engine light.

I just purchased the following:
  • Kenwood DNX577S head unit
  • Kenwood CMOS-230 backup camera
  • idatalink Maestro Rr interface module
  • idatalink link HRN-HRR-H02 vehicle specific harness
  • idatalink ACC-HU-KEN1 brand specific harness
  • SiriusXM SXV300V1 Tuner
The instructions from Kenwood on installing the backup camera are vague. The camera has a small plug that connects to a harness that runs to the head unit. On the other end of the cable it has an RCA plug that goes into one of the plugs in the head unit (labeled as rear camera). There is also two wires, one is red and the other is black. Instructions say to connect the red wire to the accessory port in the fuse box and black will be to a good ground source. I have a gut feeling if I do this the backup camera will not come on when I shift into reverse.

I have two main questions.

Dash Area
1. For red wire in the harness from the Kenwood CMOS-230 backup camera would it not be more suitable to connect the red wire to the purple and white wire?

Trunk Area
2. To setup a trigger to get the camera to come on when shifting into reverse would it be best to take the red wire from the Kenwood CMOS-230 backup camera harness and splice it with a hot wire for the reverse light and black wire to ground?

3. Are there any other issues you see that I'm missing that would keep the backup camera from working?

Thanks.
