Rep Power: 0 starting car with "smart entry system"
I just bought a 2015 Honda civic EX with the smart entry system. If the battery in my remote transmitter should die, I realize there is a key to open the doors, but how do I start the car...there is no ignition switch, just a start button.
The remote transmitter does use a battery doesn't it ??

Re: starting car with "smart entry system"
You hold the key fob up next to the engine start button for a few seconds, then press it.
Not sure how exactly it works (Although, as an engineering student, I'd love to find out) but that's what I was told!
This is for my 2014, but I'd assume its the same for the 2015.
EDIT: From Page 80 of this:

You can also see from the image that the system will begin to warn you when the battery starts to get weak.
EDIT2: Just for full coverage, here is the page reference by the above image:

I have learned a lot about the smart key since I pasted the thread. This u-tube has answered my question & maybe for those in the same boat as I was.
