power steering or AC unit
Hello everyone,
I have a 2007 honda civic. I have an issue that i cannot determine at to if it is the AC unit or the power steering pump. There is smoke coming from the bottom front pulley and it's spraying metal chips everywhere when the car is running. I say its the AC and i have someone else telling me it's the power steering, please help!

Re: power steering or AC unit
Wow!
That's bad news. I'd turn off the engine at this point.
You've posted in the 7th Gen forum. Your car is an 8th Gen. I'm not really familiar with where the AC compressor and the power steering pump are located in your car.
Good luck with the metal chips. I guess you've called it right on the AC, but its just a guess.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Thread moved.
Got pics you can post? I can't see a damn thing over here.
PS pump is all the way at the back of the engine and is hard to see......
PS and AC don't normally throw metal, but some others sure can:
Look at the pulley that is attached to the tensioner. Is it laying crooked?
Look at the water pump pulley. Is it broken and/or laying crooked?
Tensioner pulley is on a big ol arm, looks like this

The Allen bolt this all pivots on can break off and let the whole thing flop.
