Rep Power: 0 2007 Hybrid Oxygen Sensor
Hi all,
I have an 07 Civic Hybrid and the check engine light turned on the other day. There's definitely a decrease in MPGs since it's been on. I had the code checked, and it said it was O2 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1. I brought it to Midas and they said they could either replace the sensor, for a total of $460, the part being 360 and supplies and labor for the rest. Or they said they can perform a Fuel and Air induction Service first for $100 which could possibly solve the problem without replacing it. But obviously if that didn't work, I would have to replace it anyway.
Any thoughts on how I should proceed, or if that seems to be a fair price?
Thanks.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 2007 Hybrid Oxygen Sensor
If it needs the sensor, it needs the sensor.
Plain and simple.
There is no snake oil, flush, or cleaning that can fix it, that only wastes money. (I don't have spare money, do you?)
If they are offering snake oil like that instead of the correct fix, you need to find a better shop.
Got the actual code number? Let's see if they might be wrong....
(Or let me see if there might be a service bulletin about the code, many issues are solved with software these days.)
It's an Air/Fuel ratio sensor, not really an O2 sensor.....Even though they look about the same and do about the same job, the A/F sensor is far more sensitive and accurate.
The correct OE A/F sensor is $300.xx retail from any (non-greedy) Honda dealership, or you can get it for $210.xx plus shipping from Majestic. If you can DIY you can save a ton on the labor.
36531-RMX-A01 is the part number.
