08 Civic Doors locks problem

Hello
My girlfriend has an 08 civic with a door lock issue that started today.
While driving the doors keep trying to lock themselves repeatedly even though they are already locked. Its random and the locks seem to work ok when the car is either turned off or in park. Also, this may help diagnose the problem, but the lock control button on the passenger door doesn't actuate the locks properly.

I'm hoping its a fuse issue.

Thanks for any advice forth coming.

well, have you ruled out the fuse by looking for any that are blown? Usually when fuses blow, the power is lost to that item. But, if it isnarching (power is jumping across), it could cause something to have power, lose power...and continue cycling like so...

Does Honda still make the power locks to where you have to hold the inside handle out a little to lock them from the inside?

Not on this model no. And I now know that its not a fuse. I am pretty sure that its a moisture related short in the locking mechanism. Once tha car warms up, the issue disappears. And when I turn off the car, the locks activate and I have to manually unlock the door to exit the car.

I'm gonna try to dissassemble the lock buttons to check all the connections. Hopefully I'll find the problem in there.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Start with the obvious.

"but the lock control button on the passenger door doesn't actuate the locks properly"

Disconnect this switch FIRST, see if the problem goes away.
