Civic Head unit
Civic Head unit
I was planning on upgrading my stock stereo to something with a few more features. I have read posts by other by many of the suggestions of head units are older models or not in production.
I have a 2002 Civic LX.. I was looking for a deck with
-aux in
-usb and
-bluetooth steaming/calling if possible.
I have a android phone and i know a lot of the newer kenwoods' have android apps for streaming capabilities which would be good. I would love to just stream my music through my phone instead of carrying around an ipod. My budget would be under 140 without bluetooth and up to 170ish with the bluetooth streaming.
I was initially looking at the alpine cde 100 or 121. I found that the alpines look the best but they lack a lot of features which other brands give for the same price. Another question was D/A converter type. The alpines are 1bit while most other brands are 24 bit. Am i going to hear a difference?
1) looks the best
http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...eecd4c9adfen02
2) had bluetoothhttp://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...291ed795f0en02
3) with android controlhttp://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...8d69454b5aen02
I will install it myself I just dont know what i should get. would it be worth it to get a cheaper deck( ~$100) and swap the front speakers for like 200 total or spend 200 on a deck and keep the stock speakers?
any help would be great thanks.

Re: Civic Head unit
I have the Alpine ida-x300 and it's great. The only down side is that it does not have a cd player, but its not a big deal for me. I have the Bluetooth adapter for it as well and it works good with my iPhone 4. You should definitely get the bluetooth, its really nice to stream music and youtube wirelessly. I had a cable for my iPhone and I got the bluetooth cause it's state law now but I really love it for music. I just changed my head unit out and left the stock speakers in (01 lx) and it sounded a lot better. Save your money on speakers and get a better head unit. Make sure you research to see what head units will work with your Android phone. I know my Alpine works with the iPhone but people have had problems with Android. I really like Alpine but since you said Kenwood has Android apps then that would probably be your best bet.
Re: Civic Head unit
Perfect thanks for the info. I have to get on this headunit. I have been prolonging it and its being pushed back again. I was trying to change my air filter this morning and found out that the airbox is broken. The sections on the bottom half holding the nuts are all broken and the top screws just keep spinning. I tried removing the airbox from the car and trying it many ways. no luck. I guess ill grab a airbox from a wrecker. Then the headunit.
I will try and get an apline if possible. They look so good!

Re: Civic Head unit
If you want it might be cheaper to just make an intake from some tubing. You can buy the pieces at pep boys and piece together your own. If you can find one at a junk yard for a good price then it would be easier to do that.
