So I bought a 2004 Honda Civix EX and later noticed that it looks like an LX emblem has been pulled off the back of it. Why would my EX have had an LX on it? I mean, it has the EX features I believe.. Moon Roof, alloy wheels, etc. Another alarming thing is that the pinstripe that goes down the sides, when compared to other EX's out there is about 2 inches lower and missing the little honda emblem towards the front. Like it was done by a 3rd party. Also, should the EX have disc brakes in the rear or drum brakes?

What is the deal here? the Carfax reports an EX as well as autocheck. Confusing!

All 01-05 coupes/sedans came with rear drum brakes. Your best bet is to look under the hood. If the plastic wire cover says "Honda VTEC" on it, it's most likely an EX. The moon roof, I believe, only came with the ex, as well, but don't quote me on that one. Cruise control, power windows/locks/mirrors also, I think, only came with the ex. A lighted ring around the ignition switch (where your key goes to start your car) was also apparently only offered on the ex

You can quote me on that one. EX are the only ones with the moonroof. This is true for 2 doors, 4 doors, Accords, etc.

does moonroof look oem or aftermarket? and riceboy, checking the wire cover doesnt always work either. i changed my vtec one to a regular honda one cause it looked cleaner to me. also the ex has 15 inch rims, all other models use 14 inch. so just look at the tire size if they are factory rims. ex has diffferent exhaust setup too (cat is under the car, not part of the header). and there is an abs modulator by the washer fluid under the hood on the ex. pinstriping is not factory, its done by dealers or third party. my dumb car came with painted pinstriping (lucky me and having to get it sanded off).

Yea, that's true. I woulda told the OP to look for a D17A2 tranny stamp, but not knowing how savvy the OP is around the engine bay, that could lead to many more questions that I don't feel like answering.. lol

Give me some credit, I lurked for 3 or 4 years before I actually joined. lol. Just didn't have the time until I went back to school this year. Now I go to school all morning then play disc golf and post on here the rest of the time. lol. Already have a job lined up at the local stealership as a service advisor as soon as I get out of school in January. They just won't hire me part time.

I'll give you that. I lurked for a year before I actually joined. Then again, that was offset by having a grand total of 6 posts in 2009, largely due to a 7 month overseas deployment followed by the hassle of trying to be separated from the Navy properly and get my VA checkups completed on time.

EX would have variable delay wipers factory & ABS std.

All LX models have power windows and locks std.

My 05 LX had 15" wheels as std.

And yes the VIN # would quickly reveal true trim level.

Thanks for all the replies. I do believe it is an EX now. I guess maybe the LX emblem print (the emblem is gone) must be because somebody before me had the back end replaced or something.. It is a VTEC as well. I went ahead and put the vin number in Honda's Owner Link site and it gave me every detail about the car so that's cool. Thanks again everyone.
