Warranty up in 3 months

My tranny is not the greatest, its not slipping, but it does shift bumpy, especially at low speeds, anyways, What would you guys do if you were me since my warranty is up soon and the tranny is not perfect? SHould i take it in and tell them i want a new tranny?

I just dont want the warranty to end, then have the tranny completely fail, and be dicked over for another 1000 or whatever it will cost to get and install a new one.

Stop what you are doing and take it to get the tranny serviced ASAP! before it expires.

i just flushed it and refilled it, but the bumping still wont stop.. it should have been a recall.. but anyways.. u wanna know something funny 5 minutes ago i got a call from honda america asking if i want an extended warranty.. Which is weird because i bought the car from honda used with a certified 1 year warranty (which is up in 3 months like i said) well anyways, i told him, i dont need the extended warranty, because overall i think the civic is reliable, but then i went on to tell him but the trannies are pieces of crap.. So he said call back tomorrow, and ill see what is up from there.. all i know is something will be done about this tranny before 3 months is up

well if its not slipping they will say nothing is wrong. do you have an 01+ civic?if so then ya eventually the tranny will break. there is nothing you can do to prevent it aside from opening up the trans and replacing the defective clutch pack carrier.

No its not slipping, but it doesnt shift smooth all the time, so i dont care what they say.. anyways,, how much will it cost to replace that part, and is that the final solution to the problem, or just temporary. Meaning if you replace that part, will the auto tranny be reliable and stop breaking etc

final solution. but for good measure get the tci master overhaul kit for $300. might as well if you're getting expensive transmission work done. the whole thing has to be taken apart to replace the defective part with a stronger aftermarket part. i put some lc20 in my tranny fluid from lubecontrol and now it shifts very smooth once everything is warmed up. only slips when cold.

do a few n. drops and that will get your tranny slipping.

first off is your check engine light on? I ask because alot of times this has an effect on the operation of the tranny.

Now if your warranty is coming up soon and you are afraid the tranny will break after the warranty expires, what I suggest you do is go out and dog the **** out of the tranny untill the car will not move anymore. that way if you take it in, they will have something to fix instead of them trying to charge you a fee for taking it apart and saying nothing is wrong. I had a close friend do that when a tech told him that if they didnt find anything wrong, he would be charged the tear down fee. But if you have a problem that isnt intermittent, and is something that will happen if you take it in, then go ahead and take it in. My suggestion above is if your problem is intermittent and doesnt happen all the time.

if you need to destroy a tranny quick, do some n-drops sure but if you really wanna break it to pieces well shift it from R to D and stomp the gas before the tranny shifts into gear. it will jump so hard you'll think someone hit you. repeat a few times and goodbye tranny

on a side note, streetglower, i was taking off my grounds to sand the rust off well when i put the tranny ground back to the chassis like it was stock before, i saw alot of spark for a second or two. i hope this didn't cause a problem electronically but i didn't know of any other way to put it back?

^^^ I dont think you did any damage. I have had that happen alot before. I have installed battery cables back up and have had sparks jump for a second or two. and nothing happened.

And if you purposely abuse the tranny to make it fail, they will see this and decline repair because you abused it. Then you have to pay for the new tranny.
And if you didn't, they may try that anyway just to get out of fixing it.

yes please dont do anything stupid to your tranny. that sounds like something i should be doing cause mine is actually slipping. yours is not and is probably fine. if you do those things to mess it up, the shop will know and you're on your own paying for a new one. put some lc20 in (1-2 oz) and I can tell you it will start shifting better in a few days. mine only slips when cold now and once everything heats up, no problems.

draining the fluid and puttinga new one in wont do ****, they'll see that its new and blame it on the fluid that you used, trust me they'll use every little exuse on you, do some n drops like i said and your tranny wont even move your car from 0mph to 1. hey, i guess havinga crappy stock tranny isa good thing sometimes

before you start doing anything, have the codes fixed. Anytime, and I mean anytime your tranny starts acting weird, and you have a check engine light on, that is the most likely cause of it. I am glad I asked if your light was on. I bet once you get those fixed, your tranny will go back to normal.
