making an 12 second civic
Re: making an 12 second civic
Not positive on the ratio. To high to boost thats for sure. And im pretty sure i need to do something about the suspension. I dont know all the exact details on what is on the car, i bought it off someone about 3months ago. What do you suggest for suspension

Your going to need to drop the compression to something more appropriate for a turbo, hitting 12's would require something in the range of a 14:1 cr and very aggressive cams, with a top quality header like hytech.

poorly phrased response.
You need to drop the compression, because you probably won't have high enough compression to achieve your goals naturally aspirated, which would be 14:1. I would get a second block if this is your daily and start building it.

Im all for turbo. I also understand how much one costs. Id prefer to boost it anyway cause i feel it is easier and more reliable to boost it than to get that intense with an n/a build. And i love the sound if a blow off haha. Also it is not my daily. I have 2 other vehicles. I bought the civic for a toy

Re: making an 12 second civic
higher springs in the rear for a FWD drag car. you need the rear not to compress when in acceleration.
though it's a pity to destroy a good handling civic to do drag. go get another "engine only" car, they are made for straights.

95 Coupe with an ITR motor? Oh my, forgive this young man, for he knows not the true value of the front wishbone suspension, 9K+ RPM and 12.5:1 compression. You're definitely looking at the wrong track. Pull the motor, drop another B in there and boost it till it blows, if you wanna 1/4 mile.
Re: making an 12 second civic
I dont want a drag car. Let me rephrase my goal. I basically just want a street monster. Something that when sti's and evo's pull up to me dont have a chance. Sorry for the confusion i just figured putting a time on it would paint a better picture but that was a fail on my part lol. So lets start over and lets spank evo's haha
Re: making an 12 second civic
We don't condone street racing here as it's illegal and highly dangerous. If you want street racing advice go to a street racing forum. Who cares how fast your car is after youve plowed through a family in a minivan.
Re: making an 12 second civic
I dont street race and i dont act like an idiot when other people could be harmed. All im asking is what people would suggest to do to get my car how i want it. Im not gonna go play fast and furious and hurt someone i just want to know if someone should come up and want to do a pull up an abandoned highway id at least have a good chance to win. Sorry if your taking it as you think im a street racing ricer. Thats not the case. So im still asking for the advise if its ok with you

Re: making an 12 second civic
Even N/A, completely OEM k24 builds can push 285whp, the k-series is the best 4 cyl engine ever built, and honestly, one of the best performance engines ever built period. Sell the b-series, don't deal with pulling the high comp pistons and such. Swap in a k24a2, 1200cc injectors, 6262 turbo, say hello to 600whp on a bone stock engine. Even a k20a2, the stock sleeves in a k20 are good for 800whp. Screw 11s or 12s, you'll be solidly running 10 second passes with slicks on 93 octane. Hell, even a gt35 turbo is enough, that'll have you running solid 11 second passes.
I'm with Max though, not a drag racing fan myself, that's less a sport about ability than how much money you're willing to drop into an engine build. Autocross though, well that's about ability, you can be competitive without any extensive engine modifications, just some tweaks to the suspension. You won't smoke evos off the line, but they won't be able to keep up with you in the corners.

Re: making an 12 second civic
The tires alone on the car will make it not run well on the street. It's hard to hit 11s on a FWD with street legal tires. If you wanna do it though just turbo what you have and run it until it blows up, which it will. It's the only way youll hit 11s without swapping, and you will need some really good rubber. ( I still don't see how this isnt street racing ) A highway with no cars on it is still the street right?
