Re: terrible fuel mileage

goosejay I just picked up some vacuum lines as well as fittings to replace tomorrow. I couldn't change the o2 sensor that was tough for me as I didn't have tools. I think because of the new fuel filter the engine is running rich so I am going to get that o2 changed asap (probably with timing). Cleaned IACV yesterday.

You shouldn't have to much trouble changing the 02, what tools are you missing?

theres a special socket you ned to get or rent either or. there will be a split in it to tuck the wires into so you can lock it over the bolt on the o2. do not try using a regular wrench 9 outta 10 times you will just strip it.

Sorry, wasn't trying to thread jack. Just offering something else to look at for his problem. I'll do better about posting etiquette though. Thanks for the tip. Zac

just to answer your question though you do not want any gas fitting or line leaks period even if they are faint, they will affect fuel milage and will also affect performance. Not to mention the hazard all it would take is one good spark and itd engulf. Id suggest fixing that.

Reason I asked is that I actually have the socket and would be happy to lend it to him since we live in the same area I think, an inexperienced mechanic with a regular wrench is pretty much guaranteed to strip it haha

*cough cough* wouldnt know never tried it with a wrench *looks around wide eyed*. I just didnt have the socket lol. I have slipped the close end on a wrench over the plug in onto it and taken them off like that before, but if you have got the right socket....its probably a bit better to use lol.
