D15b Civic 92 Vtec some problems.

Okay, I recently bought a Honda civic 92 vtec-e for $750 nz, which is cheap. On the way home, temp was rising past the H. Turns out was a blown head gasket. But also the radiator wasn't turning on. Head lights didn't work. Brake lights stayed on. Also car sometimes smokes a **** load. Like, so much that if a piggy sees me they'll pull me over.

So, I replaced the head gasket, fixed the brake lights, replaced the headlight switch, and now it's just the radiator.

My mate connected the radiator directly to the battery via a wire that I have to disconnect all the time. It turns on etc, but wouldn't by itself. Does anyone know the problem here? I'm almost sure it's not the thermostat.

As for the smoking, it's not a blown head again, could it be a cracked head?

smoking.... ur piston rings are fried... well thats what it sounds like have a compresion check done... as for ur fans.... turn ur ac on... if it dosnt come on it might be the relay....
u can check your therostat by puting it in a pot and heat it up...

How can you hook up a radiator to the battery. Radiators arent electric! I'm guessing you mean the rad FAN(S). I dont have wiring diagrams for 92 but the usual setup is a rwmp sensor in the rad turns the fans on and off. Removing the connector and/or shorting the connector turns the fan on. There may also be relays in the fan circuit. Find the right manual to confirm your system.

well what u can do is... wire it to ur fuse box... that way when ur car come on it comes on... and when u shut off ur car it shuts off... thats one way but not the best... the best would be to figure out what's wrong with it or just rewire it

yea that way tends to nuke fuses frequently lol. Id say trace wires and rewire what you have to, you gotta also think if you ever go to sell this people will be less likely to buy with half a** work done. No offense btw lol

also check the temp sending sensor right on the thermostat housing those are NOTORIOUS for having alot to do with radiater fan problems. May even wanna check the temperature sensor on the head as well.

hey ya cant go wrong with tucks man. I just wouldnt ever tap into fuses unless it was an inline. 1 small problem in electrical generally leads to one huge one/.......or at least in my case it does.
