Newbie help!

Hey guys. How do I find out exactly what model car I have and the motor that is installed. Thanks. It's a 1995 Civic coupe. Is it a EK or EG or what?

Re: Newbie help!

motor should have a stamp on it, and you can use the VIN to find info about the car.

Re: Newbie help!

It looks like an EJ. But whether its an EJ1 or an EJ2 depends on whether its a DX or and EX

Ok. I looked up the difference between a DX and a EX and I have a DX. Which is the basic model. So, with that being said, do I have a EJ1 or an EJ2?

Re: Newbie help!

like gearbox said... it's in your VIN #

eg... VIN # 1HGEJ612XXXXXXXXX

and the engine model # should be stamped on the front of the block below the distributor.

This thread has some pics of the engine stamp and VIN codes

Re: Newbie help!

check also chassis code? in my signature
Note: no one knows if someone did an engine swap in your car, so you need to check engine yourself.
