Thumbs up timing belt replacement-2nd time

99' civic LX, 4dr, automatic. Changed timing belt at 95K, with water pump & other belts (dealer). QUESTION: When should I have this timing belt changed? There is 160K on the clock right now. NYC hard earned miles. All maintenance has been done on-time or before scheduled time frame. Any info, much appreciated.

Timing belts need to be changed bout every 100k, so you probably got bout 40k left before a change.

Re: timing belt replacement-2nd time

New to the forum and hope this is in the right thread, no intending to hijack thread.
I just bought a 98 EX last week. It has 110K on it. Looking at the records I have access to, it appears that no timing belt change was ever performed. Do all the civic's have a 100K recommended belt change? Are they interference engines? Where is the danger point on these 120K, 150K, or does everyone hit these right on time?

Do your belt asap. You don't want to risk it breaking and costing you more in the long run.

Re: timing belt replacement-2nd time

Having never worked on a Honda before, how big of a deal is changing out the timing belt? What other items should be changed at the same time? Are there good aftermarket vendors to get the parts from, or do you just use NAPA, O"Rielly's, Auto Zone, or the Dealership's? What kind of price would you expect to pay for the dealer to perform the change?

Re: timing belt replacement-2nd time

You can get then from autozone or the others. And if you take it to the dealership they will rip your but off bad. The timing belt change is fairly easy actually. When doing this you should change the water pump also to get it out of the way while you are at it. This is a timely process but its not to hard.

Re: timing belt replacement-2nd time

All 3 belts, timing belt tensioner, water pump all at the same time. You need the special crank shaft tool to remove the crankshaft bolt. http://www.amazon.com/Powerbuilt-648...0421334&sr=8-1

Dont even try it without that tool and 2 breakbars, search on you tube for how to vids.
