Please help first civic.

I've always been a Honda Enthusiast. I've owned a mazda protege and have always wanted a civic. Im finally getting one. 1996 Honda Civic EX. The only thing is idk if its vtec. The valve cover doesn't say vtec. just Honda. And the mechanic who owns it says it is vtec. I'm not sure. I'm still getting it either way. And what type of EK is it? Thanks a lot guys.

Can't remember man I'll let you know later today with some pics. It's getting towed here due to no tag. Thanks a lot for letting me know though.

Check if there's a VTEC solenoid behind the head,

It's there. When I get tags on it Im going to try and hit vtec and listen for the crossover. From what I heard the ej8's come with vtec and the dx and lx versions don't. I'm still happy though.

You could hear it at first gear. Press the gas slightly. Should be around 3500 rpm thru 4500 rpm

I wish I could . But the cluster was swapped from an EG. So I don't have a tach. Idk what RPM I'm at lol. I'm thinking of getting a cheap autozone tach and mount it somewhere.

Re: Please help first civic.

You could always switch the entire cluster out for a cluster with a tach? If you go that route, I always found the Si clusters to look awesome!

Or you could do what I did.

I bought one of those, and mounted two gauges in it.

Idk man. It was only 2100. Had coilovers, aftermarket wheels, exhaust (I hate it its so loud), a factory kit, d16y8 vtec, and had a ton of loose change inside. I just gotta do a bit of work on it.
