Should I Buy this civic??
I am new to the import scene and am looking to purchase my first civic.
the one I am most interested in is a 2000 civic SI with a turbo approx 25k miles on engine rebuild and mods. Bddy and interior are all good.
here is a list of mods:
B18C GSR
FyneTune Log Turbo Manifold
TurboNetics Turbo t3/t4 54trim
ACT 6PUCK clutch with ACT Heavy Duty PP/ ClutchMasters 12lb flywheel
Weisco 9:8 pistons
Eagle Rods
ARP Head Studs
Innovative MotorMounts
760 EDGE Injectors
Skunk2 Intake Manifold
3'Intercooler piping greddy type rs BOV/threadstone intercooler
3'OPEN Downpipe
Skunk2 Short Shifter
GSR Transmission
STOCK HEAD
New Oem Oil Pump
New Oem Water Pump
New Timing Belt
Hondata 4 Bar Map Sensor
Hondata S300
he is asking $5500 firm so basically my question is what things should I look at or be aware of in looking at a turbo civic with these type of mods, does that set up seem like it has the right build to provide reliable power? And is the price good or should I keep looking.

Re: Should I Buy this civic??
What do you plan to do with the car? Continue modding? race? Daily driver?
If I were interested in this car, considering what has been done, I'd be a little concerned about how the owner drove it. Did he just cruise for show, street race, autocross, drag..etc?
Personally I think the price is a little high. I know for a fact I could never come close to getting top price for my car as to what I have in it. At this point I'm about $3000 over maximum BB. But it's my car and I like what I've done.

I plan on using it as a daily driver weekend fun occasional street race. Do mainly cosmetic mods
Owner used it as dd and street racing, said work was done by reputable shop and would be able to provide build sheet, has about 25k miles since work was done to it.
Is that motor and mods done seem like a good set up or am I going to have to worry about blowing head gaskets etc.

Re: Should I Buy this civic??
If you have the cash to spend on it why not? 96'-00' was the best looking body style in my opinion..but the only problem in buying an "already tuned" honda, thats their project.. and the're most likely to think there car is worth un-godly amounts of money.I would much rather buy a straight stock honda, acura.like a crx or older prelude and put my time and bust my knuckles on it..thats the whole point of personalizing-tuning your ride.just a pride in driving your car knowing its all your own.
Re: Should I Buy this civic??
I totally agree with ur point but I was looking at it from a money stand point true it would feel good to build from ground up, but by the time I got it to that point I would be well over $5500, so I was mainly trying to save money in long run by buying something that was built and had most of the high dollar stuff on it already.....am I looking at it all the wrong way?

If you think its a good deal, go for it.
Here's the KBB value at 15000 miles.

Re: Should I Buy this civic??
I think buying a civic with tons of mods already done to it defeats the purpose of buying a tuner in the first place. Yes you may buy it and not have to do any other modification to it and it already be fast and street-ready, but can you really claim that car as yours when you don't know off the top of your head half of the mods done to it, or why they were done? Just my opinion.

Most cheap azz turbo setup that fails are usually the ones that have no map correction, but if it have a hondata (the best for adjusting mapping) is a good sign of a proper done job.
Re: Should I Buy this civic??
I say get it. At 5500 with all those parts, you can't really go wrong. But I do have to agree with some of the peeps in the post talking about getting a tuner to build it up yourself. In any case, the motor could be crap, but in the case that it is, you can drop in another one and use the mod parts again if you like. Might I suggest since you have all these mods why not add a small 30 shot of NOS to help with the turbo lag since you wanna do some street racing.

Re: Should I Buy this civic??
Appreciate the enthusiasm, but the thread's over a year old. I'm sure the decision has rem made already.
But, to touch on the subject, I personally wouldn't buy a modded car, especially one modded to that extent. You have no way of telling how used and abused the engine is, regardless of how well built it is. Also, as mentioned earlier, it kinda defeats the purpose of being a tuner. You're buying someone's used toy that they decided they don't want anymore.

Re: Should I Buy this civic??
^ If your buying a car from an enthusiast it might be the best taken care of car on the planet. If your buying from a street racer who only wants to go fast and not take care of it that's a different story. I'm starting to change my tune about buying modded cars. If its super clean and obviously well taken care of why not?
