Two Head gaskets 1997 Civic D16Y7
Two Head gaskets 1997 Civic D16Y7
Greetings,
I am replacing the head gasket on my 1997 Civic with a D16Y7 Motor
The Original head is stamped P2F-HA-6.
The guy at the parts store sold me a blue multi layer metal gasket, the one at the bottom.
I broke off the # 4 Spark Plug and may have damaged the head trying to remove it. I decided to go to the junk yard and found a head off a 1999 D16Y7 motor in a Civic LX for $28. The head is stamped P2F-HA-5. The parts guy told me I needed a different head gasket and he sold me a single layer fiber gasket, the one on the top. I am fix'n to put the motor back together when the head comes back from the machine shop this afternoon.
My question is, does it matter which head gasket I use?
I would prefer to use the metal one, but decided to post here first, before I make a decision.

Any input would be appreciated.... Thanks
