Where can I find the VIN nubers on 99 civic motor?

1.6, single ohc non-vtec.

Bought it a month ago with 316,000 miles on the body but the guy said the motor was changed out not long ago from a parts car with 160,000 on it. I just want to find the vin and see if it really was changed or if this motor really has 300+ on it. This guy did not take care of it at all!!! after a full tuneup the car runs like new so if it really does have 316k on the motor I will never buy a car not named Honda again!

this is courtesy of our good fella Lazlong - yeh, this hairy arm is not mine

stand in front of the car and look at the block between them. it should be stamped somewhere around here:

If that is in fact part of the VIN # it would be the last 7 digits, I guess.

Re: Where can I find the VIN nubers on 99 civic motor?

Those pics that are shown are the engine code # not the vin. The vin on the motor is located right on the front side of the motor at the bottom. It will be a little green tab that has the vin on it.
