1998 civic power surge

i have the weirdest problem with my 98 honda civic 5speed dx when i give the car gas it completely power surges my headlights flicker and inner lights and my idle bogs up and down feels like its gunna stall in 1st gear, thought it was stereo that the kid before me put in so i unhooked it but it still does it its like a huge fluctuation in all the power and idle but keep in mind when it first starts its fine until i crack the gas or put it in first, anyone have any ideas im completely lost thanks

Had a similar problem. check the fuses. i bought it from a guy he had a 5Amp in a 7.5 slot (Alternater/starter) or a fuse something like that, 1998 Dx coupe trans slipped and lights flickered. check if the fuse is blown and replace the fuse.

Yeah, check fuse #15. My '98 DX has it labeled as Alternator/Speed sensor. It's a 7.5 amp. Good Luck!
