00 coupe ex, horrible shutter on takeoff and rough ride

I am a noob to forum sorry if this belongs on another thread.

I have a 2000 ex 5 speed, I have already replaced clutch and flywheel twice in 6 months. I am still getting horrible chatter and shuttering on takeoff and while downshifting. It is also a very rough feeling to engine.

Replaced all motor mounts, done full tuneup including o2 sensors, no codes being throw.

The weird thing is every once in a while it will all disappear and run perfect the chatter/shutter will go away and engine will feel smooth as can be, I have taken it to numerous shops and they all have no idea what it could be.
Please help

Re: 00 coupe ex, horrible shutter on takeoff and rough ride

How often does it happen? Narrow it down. Every day. Every other day. Every few days. When does it happen? Cold weather, or maybe only after the car has been sitting for a while. It's tough to say. What was the condition of the pressure plate? I don't know if it would have anything to do with it, but I'm trying to think off the top of my head.

It is worse when i first start driving but it is always there, The mechanic said everything looked good when he took it apart and he is really stumped , the clutch kit i got was exedy organic. Does the pressure plate not get changed as part of kit? Clutch and flywheel and bearings were replaced about 1000 miles ago

Usually it's just the clutch and release/throwout bearing that get replaced. Along with a flywheel resurface. But GB makes a good point. What about your exhaust system? Is anything clogged up? Most of that stuff can be diagged with a vacuum gauge IIRC.

Re: 00 coupe ex, horrible shutter on takeoff and rough ride

The kit had new flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disc , release bearing and pilot bearing. I have never tested exhaust system besides feeling how well it comes out when someone gives it gas, it feels strong coming out of the muffler.
How could exhaust issues makes the car shake violently on takeoffs and downshifts?

edit: fuel filter is new, have done a complete tuneup and had everything engine wise tested at dyne shop all numbers are good and within spec

Did the tuneup include a valve clearance adjustment?

Try putting a mechanics stethoscope or a screwdriver with your ear to the handle against the block while the engine is running and listen for anything rattling around.

valve adjustment is next on my list, thanks for advice on stethoscope. It feels like something is out of balance and takes a few seconds to get situated when i take off or down shift

Re: 00 coupe ex, horrible shutter on takeoff and rough ride

You should hear the valves ticking over the engine noise if it's bad enough to cause this problem. Pay special attention to how the valves look when you do the valve adjustment. Look for excessive wear, scoring, burn marks- anything out of the ordinary. They should all look the same (same color and buildup if any). If there's excessive buildup do an upper end cleaning with Seafoam or the like.

Stethoscope to the block is checking for bad bearings or debris in the engine.
