96 HX Instrument Needle Lights?
96 HX Instrument Needle Lights?
Since I'm new to this whole Honda Civic thing, this may be a silly question, but are the needles on my instrument cluster supposed to light up or glow or reflect or anything? When I'm driving at night, the backlights illuminate the numbers on the gauges, but I can hardly see where the needles are to tell my engine or road speeds.
Thanks,
Ben
Thanks,
Ben
Re: 96 HX Instrument Needle Lights?
Pull the whole cluster and change the little lights that are plugged into the back. They're available at any autoparts store or you can get handfuls at the junkyard 'cause just about every car made since the 80's has them in the cluster.
Re: 96 HX Instrument Needle Lights?
Okay, so there are supposed to be lights. Thanks. Is pulling the cluster fairly easy and straightforward? I plan on picking up a shop manual today too, so that should help.
Re: 96 HX Instrument Needle Lights?
the needles reflect the light from the top of the cluster. you can change the lights on top if you want a different look. the light bulbs behind the gauge face for the numbers are smaller than usual and are yellow/white.
