98 Civic ex A/C issue
98 Civic ex A/C issue
I have a 98 civic ex and have an issue with my a/c. I thought I was just out of coolant so I bought some R134a and refilled but now I'm only getting warm air blowing out now. Prior to this happening when my a/c was working correctly I used to hear my AC chip in, sounded like a spraying then clicking sound coming from behind the glovebox. Now I don't hear that at all...Under the hood I can see the compressor is engaged and the condenser fan is running. Any ideas as to what my problem could be? I do want to also note that I have pressure from the Low-pressure line (where i filled with R134a) but then after i tested again, the gage is significantly lower along with the freon i filled. So i appear to be either losing pressure somewhere and/or leaking. Any input on this would be appreciated.
I have not yet taken it to a shop to have it fixed. I went to minekie and they wanted $150 just to tell me what was wrong with it and I don't have $ to throw away like that.

Re: 98 Civic ex A/C issue
i would say vaccum the whole system and get all the oxygen and moisture out of it but dont take any of the oil out leave that in. It take 15 minutes to vaccum an AC system after that recharge it to 0.60 kilograms of 134a. If you do have a leak somewhere check the lines and make sure there secure and tight if thats not the case you may just have a hole in one of the lines and worst comes to worst replace the line.
