2000 Civic EX B16 Swap Questions
2000 Civic EX B16 Swap Questions
Hello again everyone! A friend and I want to swap a B16a2 into his 2000 Civic ex coupe. and I only have a few questions. I know we will need the motor mounts (probably go with Hasport) obviously and the complete engine with intake manifold and everything, but besides a transmission and the complete swap, what else would we need? I've seen people talk about swapping into DX's using the same harness as their d16 with a couple of plug modifications, would the EX harness be able to be used in this same manner? If so, How? Also, would the engine drop right in? I've seen and heard from some people that the engines are slightly larger than the bay and the bay needs to be ground a little bit for it to fit right, and others say it will fit fine. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: 2000 Civic EX B16 Swap
If your not able to find a straight harness adapter, then you would need to get the wiring diagrams for the B16 and EX and repin the plugs so the wiring all lines up.
It should fit without grinding the bay. It's not uncommon for there to be conflicting info on how well swaps will fit, but if some say it fits fine then it fits. The people who had trouble were probably inexperienced and doing it in their back yard.

Re: 2000 Civic EX B16 Swap
what do you mean by adapter? i didnt know they made adapters? is it like a second harness that kind of 'piggy backs' with the original and work together? or just plug adapters to make them fit?
Re: 2000 Civic EX B16 Swap
I know they make OBD0-OBD1, OBD0-OBD2, and OBD1-OBD2 but, I didn't know they made adapters for the Y8-A2 conversion.
Don't quote me but, I think you can use the A2 harness with the A2 ECU. I believe it should be plug and play.

2000 Ex
99-00 B16a2
Is a EASY SWAP, You need the following to make is a PLUG AND PLAY SWAP
Complete motor (B16a2)
Use your Ex harness, You will need to extend the IACV sensor wire and the IAT sensor wire
Use ALL 99-00 SI Mount brackets and hasport or OEM mounts
Also use a 99-00 Si ecu
that is a plus and play set up

Re: 2000 Civic EX B16 Swap Questions
so all the plugs should fit directly with no modifications besides extending? sounds pretty sweet. We've also been thinking about a K24 from a RSX-S + 6 Speed transmission, but neither of us have read anything on how that swap goes down. Seems to be more and more common every day but i'm still skeptic on how much parts that involves, im not worried about labor, but really who is? lol.
Re: 2000 Civic EX B16 Swap Questions
its really all not that big of a deal from some reading i have done up on it, however is quite a bit more money like you said with having to buy quite a bit more parts for the conversion. but i most likely will go with a B16. although i am equally interested in both.
