Angry Engine Trouble

I've had a oil leak for awhile now and the cause of it is a bad oil pan gasket. Just recently my check engine light came on (flashing) and the shaking is a serious issue. About every three to four days I'll throw a quart of oil in but, there's no visible leak or smoke coming out of my exhaust anymore so I don't know where the oil is disappearing to. The cap and rotor, sparks plugs, and rubber rings inside the head gasket were changed about 10 months ago. I said that because at the time at least two spark plugs where covered in oil. So I thought the sparks just needed to be replaced again but that didn't change anything. It's as if oil is getting into my cylinders. Does anyone have an idea what could be going on with my engine? And what would be the worst case possible?

Also the exhaust is putt putting and when I put my hand to the exhaust very small spots of oil cover my hand. Thank you

Re: Engine Trouble

If the light is flashing, that's really severe. You have a misfire that could potentially destroy the catalytic converter.
As for the leaks, you could have a worn valve cover gasket and work spark plug tube seals. There is also the possibility of worn valve guide seals.

Re: Engine Trouble

To add to that: If it's spitting oil out of the exhaust the cat is already ruined.

Re: Engine Trouble

Your absolutely sure it's oil not water? I know they are hard to mix up but water is a normal byproduct of the catalytic reaction so if it's water your getting on your hand its normal. Definitely get your misfire checked, the engine may be on the way out already

Re: Engine Trouble

I think everybody's assumptions are probably are correct. It's been a good 8 years and my mileage is 211 thou. Once I take it to the shop I'll decided what to do. Thanks to all for the feedback and I'll let ya'll know what the results are.

Re: Engine Trouble

At best your valve seals are bad, at worst your piston rings are shot. When was the last time you changed your pcv?
