Hey guys Im new to this site. I got my first Honda Civic yesterday and I got a good deal on it. All I needed to do to it was buy a battery and a caliper for it. All is good except for something to do with the idle. Like I said I got it yesterday and today when I started it, it would idle right and then jump to 2000 rpms and then down. 20 seconds later it would do it again. After it warms up it seems to be doing a lil better. Sometimes even being warm instead of idle jumping up, it drops a lil bt and then back up. What could this be? Any help would be appreciated. I just did a lil reading. Do u guys think its just trying to learn to idle right again? I did disconnect the battery to put the new one in. Which it prolly reset the ecu right? If thats the case I hope that it was doing that because of the reset and after a few days it learns to idle right again. Thats just what Im gonna go by until then.

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Look for a vacuum leak and clean your IACV.
