Door locks sticking.

I have a 98 civic ex, the driver side door lock doesnt unlock, i took it to a locksmith shop, and they got it open but as soon as they unlocked it they locked it and closed the door and it wouldnt open again. the locking mechanizm works when the door is open, but not when closed. it is currently unlocked, but if i lock it, it wont unlock. i have to jamm the key back and forth to get it to unlock, but it feels like it will break soon if i keep doing that, so i just leave it unlocked, and turn on the alarm. i disabled the electronic lock so that it doesnt lock it when i turn the alarm on. It doesnt open or unlock from the inside of the car either. if i need to change the locking mechanizm, some help with that would be appreciated, im not sure if its too hard or not, but i think i can do it. the only problem i see so far is that one of the three screws holding it in from the side of the door looks stripped, but im looking forward to hearing from you guys. thanks. J

Re: Door locks sticking.

Take the skin off the inside of the door. There should be metal arms going from the handle to the lock motor. Id first check the arms and get a visual. If worst comes just grab a used mechanism from the parts yard or buy a new one.

Re: Door locks sticking.

Dont remove the mechanism yet. Look under the panel and see if theres anything disconnected first.
