Leak 99 civic dx

I went to refill my wiper fluid yesterday and found myself standing in oil or transmission fluids. i put the car up on the rack and didnt see any leaks but the bottom of the transmission was really wet but no sign of the leak. any ideas??

Re: Leak 99 civic dx

try to figure out which fluid it is first. if alot of fluid came out, its prolly a rear main seal.

Re: Leak 99 civic dx

Check the color of the fluid. Sometimes it can be hard to tell if it's oil or tranny fluid (depending on how often you change it). If the bottom of the transmission is wet, that's probably a good indication theres a tranny seal busted somewhere. Rear main seal is a possibility, but also check that there isn't anything leaking onto the transmission. Coolant is a possibility, and I think theres an oil return line that runs over the transmission in the engine bay, too. Just whatever you do, don't drive the car, lol.

ill try not to drive it lol but nothing id leaking on it. the top is dry and everything looks good on it until you see the bottom of the tranny. the color is rainbow on the ground so i was also wondering if it might be a gas leak?
