Newbie Question

hi guys, i'm new here and i am looking to get a 2000 civic si. i guess my main question is since i would like to make a few mods on the car (nothing major), roughly how fast can i get the car to (hp wise)? if i did intake, exhaust, and chip? i would probably get a few extra engine mods done later but what would you recommend to get it going faster without breaking the bank?

how fast could i get the car up to and roughly what cost?

thanks so much really appreciated.

Re: Newbie Question

00 comes with 160 whp from a b16a2 engine. That car is already decently fast idk how fast you plan on going or if your racing or what but I have a 99 dx with 107 whp and I can hit 120 with no mods or anything special on the car. The only real difference is going to be acceleration. The si won't go much faster than 120 but it will get there a hell of alot faster than the other 6th gen civics. But you can easily get the si to be putting out 250 whp which will drasticlly increase the speed. With that you better get some new tires though cause that can get dangerous with more hp. You can find ally of OEM parts and aftermarket ones online for a great discount just shop around and post back here what you find. We'll let you know what will be a good fit

Re: Newbie Question

A em1 with intake, race header, exhaust and a chip will be hitting anywhere around 156 to 165 whp. You will feel a little bit of a difference but not much really.

Re: Newbie Question

isnt the civic si 160hp stock?

i'm not looking to make it a track racer, just something with quick acceleration and can pass cars easily on the highway if needed. i guess, getting the civic to low 6s for a 0-60 or even high 5s would be nice.

Yes the em1 or 99-00 civic si has 160 hp stock but thats to the crank. The only thing that really matters is what hp you are getting to the wheels. The stock whp for a 99-00 civic si is round 135 whp.

Re: Newbie Question

Hello everyone,
I REAL new, so new I don't know what the heck I'm doing?! I've been looking at this site since I signed up...about 20 minutes ago, for a place to post a question. The only way I see is to tack it on to someone else question or comment.
My son has a 2000 civic...pretty much a POS. Its got 124K on it. Jus the other day my wife had it and filled it up with gas, and it started to run really really bad, and the check engine light constantly flashing. I'd take it to AutoZone to have it read, but I don't think it will make it there. It seems to run fine in park or neutral, but put it in gear and if feels like a cyclinder is dropping out. Don't know if the timing belt has been changed ever. My son also tells me that if it goes when being driven, the engine could self-destruct, then you will have a mess.
I'd appreciate any help anyone has out there,
sincerely,
126civic
