SI to EX engine swap

Could I take a B16 from a 99-00 si and drop it into my 96 ex? Would it be easier or cheaper than dropping a B18 into it.

Re: SI to EX engine swap

So would it be easier than putting an b18 into it? I want to upgrade the D16Y8 with a few mods like a cam, intake and chip but if I can get the swap done with engine and tranny for around the same price then I'll do that instead. What do you think?

Swap it. If you have a manual already then it will be simple. All you will need is the motor, tranni, wire harness, ecu and maybe shift linkage not sure.

Will the SI swap be easier or cheaper than the B18 GSR swap? I don't have either engine yet.

Re: SI to EX engine swap

So if I'm going to swap then I might as well go with the B18 then. I just don't wanna spend too much. That's why I was thinking of just putting a few mods on the D16.

Re: SI to EX engine swap

Modding a car is not cheap so dont think it is. When you do something do it right the first time. If you mod the d16 then you will be no where near what the b will.

Re: SI to EX engine swap

I know it's not cheap. The cost of all those parts add up. If I decide to hop up the D16 then I'll do forged internals to keep everything together. I know that would be costly but it'll be a lot more reliable too.

Well, will depend on you internet connection, not sure where you are, but guess this have been covered in too many threads around here... Read is the best for your case?
Don't think there will be any real differences between the B16 or B18.
