Does my car have a Vtech engine?
Does my car have a Vtech engine?
1)i just bought a 1997 honda civic EX coupe. just wondering if this model has a vtech engine or not.
BTW it doesnt say VTECH anywhere on the engine. it just says honda.
2) does the EX model come with keyless entry as standard? or was it optional?
3)and the car has an aftermarket stereo system but the lights wont come on at night for the temperature control *****. can this be fixed in any way?

1) vtech, no. VTEC, however, yes. vtech is a brand of phones..
2) dunno
3) You'll have to check the wiring and/or plugs for your climate control *****. Chances are it's a matter of replacing bulbs.

lol, no problem. You (should) have a D16Y8 engine under the hood, unless the previous owner swapped it out.

oh kool. but i only got a duplicate key from the previous owner.. where would i be able to get a new set of key less entry keys?
btw i have a aftermarket radio unit. i hurd somewhere that the keyless system was integrated into the factory radio.

keyless remote units are available all over ebay and the dealer can reprogram it to the car. actually some sellers will even give you info how to do it yourself. or you can just get aftermarket alarm which will get wired to the power locks. which would be the easy way to go in your case because that model of car does require the factory radio for keyless to work. it all depends on how your aftermarket radio was installed. some installers keep the factory radio and hide it in the dash somewhere so keyless still works. but if not, best bet is aftermarket alarm to have a keyless system.
