Does size really matter?...You tell me.

I'm shopping for a battery for my 96 EX 4dr w/160k miles and was reading thru Consumer Reports about buying car batteries when it said "Batteries come in a variety of sizes and it's important to choose the right size."

Then CR goes on to list a bunch of sizes and says "Size 24/24F (top terminal) Fits many Acura, Honda, Infiniti, Lexus, Nissan, and Toyota vehicles."

But when I look at the ratings it uses the word "Group" instead of "Size".

Also, when I use the search feature for my car on Honda, autozone and advanced auto web sites, it looks like the size is "51R", which of course Consumer Reports doesn't list.

So, is it "Size" or "Group" and which do I need?

And if all else were equal, in a warm climate which battery would you recommend Duralast,, AutoCraft or EverStart?

Thanks!

check your current battery. i think most civic use group51 (51r just has the + and - terminals reversed). it is a smaller battery so be sure to get the 500cca power rating. most honda dealer carry these now and it is the highest rating of any group51 (oem is around 420cca or less). cca=cold cranking amps. if you can find one, autocraft makes excellent batteries. the titaniums are 500cca which is what you want.
